Le sigle GM hanno incuriosito i numismatici del periodo, nel trovarne una spiegazione; si ipotizza possano significare Gorzkowski Mantova, generale austriaco comandante della guarnigione di Mantova che riempì la città di soldati austriaci al fine di evitare l'insurrezione cittadina ed il congiungimento alle truppe di Carlo Alberto. Altra ipotesi è Guarnigione Mantova oppure Governo Militare. Durante lo stato d'assedio furono requisiti gli argenti da chiese, e da privati per provvedere all'emissione dei tre nominali. BB÷SPL
